Habitat for Humanity of Telluride Region serves low-income families in Southwestern Colorado. Our service area includes the ski resort and tourist towns of Telluride, Mountain Village, and Ouray and the surrounding counties of San Miguel, Ouray and the Rico growth area of Dolores County. Habitat for Humanity of Telluride Region is committed to working with people in need and volunteers to provide decent, affordable housing for low-income families in San Miguel and Ouray Counties and the Rico Growth Area of Dolores County. Through volunteer labor, management expertise, and tax-deductible donations of money, labor and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates homes with the help of the families who will live in them. We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and a partner affiliate of Habitat for Humanity of Colorado. We have received a donation of land in Norwood, Colorado from the Board of County Commissioners of San Miguel County, Colorado. We have completed annexation of the land into the Town of norwood. We still have to complete the subdivision approval process. The land is sufficient to build six houses for Habitat families. We expect to complete infrastructure improvements after subdivision approval and build two houses commencing in the spring 2008.. The first two families have been selected for the houses in Norwood. Amy Smith and her daughter, Chyenne; and Amanda Joseph and her sons, Broc and Cash.
